CONTACT INFO at the Bottom of This Page The Natural Resources Society was formed to enhance the experience of UNBC students in the various Natural Resource Management and Environmental Studies (now Ecosystem Science & Management) majors at UNBC in the fall of 1994. This has been a very active, reputable “NUGSS club” ever since. The NRS works very closely with the faculty, related organizations, community businesses, and students to facilitate education, fun and experience in a positive atmosphere. The NRS is run by students in the Ecosystem, Science & Managment program who serve as executive members or volunteers. It is supported by NUGSS, faculty and staff, students, and community members.
Objectives 1) To provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas between students, faculty, professionals, and others involved in natural resources.
2) To make students aware of innovations in the field of Natural Resources through various forms of media including speakers, papers, and reference materials.
3) To provide & arrange extra-curricular academic and non-academic events in order to promote interest and involvement.
4) To act as a liaison between undergraduate students of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies and the University of Northern British Columbia.
5) To officially represent all students enrolled in the NRES discipline & UNBC.
The success of the NRS in meeting these objectives will be a reflection of student involvement and the ability of the NRS to build bridges with industry and community groups. The energy required to meet these objectives, among others, is demonstrated by our members commitment to the future of Natural Resource Management in Northern BC.
